There is a great deal written by the Internet marketing gurus about the value of article marketing. Most of what they write makes sense, however most of it gives precious little value to the small-time owner of a website. What a small business person wants is visitors to their website whom they can convert into customers, and they want those visitors now.
It is possible to get visitors to your website today from article marketing, as I will demonstrate in a minute, but it is not possible using the methods recommended by most Internet marketing gurus.
How Articles Bring Visitors to Your Website
As the table above shows 97% of all the people who search for information on the Internet only click through to websites who appear on the first page of the search results that Google delivers when they search for information. Thirty seven percent of those searchers click on the top result that they see.
This means that any article you write must appear on the first page of Google search results. And the nearer the top of the page it appears the more likely it will be that your article will be read, so the more likely it will be that the reader will click a link in that article and come through to your website.
Most article marketing articles published in article directories like eZine Articles or Articlebase, Go Articles or Squidoo or Hub Pages never make it on to the first page of Google search results.
This does not mean that these articles are a waste of time. They still provide valuable back links to your website, but those links come from very lowly ranked pages so you have to write a ton of such articles to get real benefit. You certainly will not get an immediate flow of visitors to your website.
Research Shows That Most Articles Produce Very Poor Visitor Results
Nine months ago we published 10 articles on various article directories. Each article had been carefully crafted to comply with the guidelines of the best Internet marketing gurus. Not one of those articles ever achieved page one status on Google search results. Not one of the articles ever achieved any page rank that would make it a valuable back link to our website. All ten of our articles produced only 3 visitors to our website over the course of nine months.
What our research showed was that articles that fail to appear on the first page of websites that are highly rated by Google do not get any significant visitor traffic.
To get on to the first page of most highly rated websites you need to be well known. However, there is one way that you can get onto such pages, as you will see in a minute.
Tests Prove That Articles on the Right Type of Websites Produce Instant Results
There are over 354 million websites on the Internet. Of these fewer than 20,000 are what are known as Google News websites. News articles that appear on Google News websites tend to get onto the first page of Google search results in a matter of 10-15 minutes. For instance a recent article titled “Electric Bike Beats Car, Pushbike and Bus in Commuter Race” went to the top of Google in ten minutes where it was read by over 400 people.
The difficulty for most ordinary writers is that the vast majority of Google News websites are owned by major terrestrial media like The Times, Sun, Guardian, Telegraph, New York Times, Reuters etc who are not interested in the work of non-professional journalists. However, there does exist a small number of independent Google News websites like The UK News Reporter and its various supplements, who welcome well written news articles on a wide range of topics.
Before approaching The UK News Reporter or submitting articles it is strongly recommended that you read their free guideline on “How To Write Articles That Will Bring Visitors to Your Website”. This guideline is a free bonus when you sign up for free notification of all future articles from The UK News Reporter about how to promote your business on the Internet.
